Crafts

Mother's Day 2014 is tomorrow! I have been a busy Martha today! I just love finding ideas online and trying them for myself and seeing what I can bring to it as well. I did some really exciting things for my mother tomorrow. Well, I'm excited about them!
I had some terra cotta pots left over from Teacher Appreciation week. I decided to use one for my mom but wasn't quite sure yet what to do. I had seen a picture of a flower pot with pictures on it. I was curious as to how that worked. I thought I would give it a try. I do have Modge Podge....I mean, the holy grail of crafting glues! So I had to be able to do something!

This is my flower pot:

The picture below is what I used. Glossy Modge Podge, Modge Podge Acrylic Spray and a glue gun. First I printed my pictures in black and white on regular paper. Then I brushed the glossy mode podge onto the back of the pictures to place them onto the flower pot. Next I brushed the modge podge over top. I purchased fabric tape from Michael's craft store to put around the top of the pot and the lid. Then I used small pieces to hot glue a flower to cover the ends of the fabric tape. I used a pink sharpie to write "Happy Mother's Day 2014" on the pot. Then after I was done, I sprayed the pot with the Modge Podge Acrylic Spray.

Okay, I saw this on Pinterest and just had to try it, sounded so simple yet really cute! And it was!

The original post for this can be found on http://www.naptimecrafters.com/2011/09/spooky-door-hanger.html

My fabrics are different, of course. I didn't have black paint for the outside of the hoops so I used orange and I did my letters in a Gothic font since it's for Halloween. I really like how it came out. My picture doesn't look as good as in person because my camera phone isn't very good quality. This was very simple to do and I had fun doing it! I was surprised how hard it was to find Halloween themed fabric considering Halloween is only 2 months away. I know that Joanne's has a bunch, but other stores - Nada! I found these fabrics in a small quilt shop.
So if you happen to stop by my blog and see this, I hope you like and are inspired as well. You can get the step by step instructions like I did by following the link above :) Enjoy!
